Terms of service
Last updated 20 September 2026
These terms cover playing along with The Ocean Station's aquarium streams through live chat. Watching and chatting also happen on YouTube, under the YouTube Terms of Service and YouTube's Community Guidelines.
Playing along
- Chat commands influence the aquarium; they don't control it. Fish have their own minds, and commands have limits so that everyone gets a turn.
- Adopting a fish is free, and nothing in the aquarium can be bought.
- A fish you adopt is yours to name and visit, but it lives in our aquarium: it isn't property, can't be transferred or sold, and has no monetary value.
Be kind
Fish names and display names appear on a public stream. Don't use them for insults, slurs, sexual content, personal information, advertising or links. We filter names automatically and may rename a fish, hide a name, or ban or time out a viewer who breaks these rules, with or without warning. YouTube moderation on our chat also applies to the aquarium.
The service
The aquarium is meant to run around the clock, but it is provided as it is, without guarantees: streams can pause, and features can change or end. If the aquarium ever closes for good, we'll say so on the channel first. To the extent the law allows, The Ocean Station is not liable for any loss arising from using the streams.
